Board of trustees
HRI is overseen by a Board of Trustees whose members bring us the benefit of their experience in fields such as clinical research, basic science research, homeopathy, charity administration, media/public relations and business management.
Dr Alexander Tournier BSc DIC M.A.St Cantab PhD LCHE RSHom
Dr Tournier has a 1st class honors degree in Physics from Imperial College, and a Master in Advanced Study in Theoretical Physics (a.k.a. part III) from Cambridge University. Dr Tournier wrote his PhD on the Biophysics of water at the interface with biological molecules at the University of Heidelberg in Germany. Dr Tournier also trained in homeopathy at the Centre for Homeopathic Education, London and is a registered homeopath.
Dr Tournier worked for 10 years at Cancer Research UK (5th institute worldwide for molecular biology) as a researcher working on problems at the interface between biology, physics and mathematics. Dr Tournier founded the Homeopathy Research Institute in 2007.
Dr Elizabeth Thompson BAOxon MBBS MRCP FFHom
Dr Thompson is a Consultant Homeopathic Physician specialising in oncology and a Fellow of the Faculty of Homeopathy. She previously held the post of Lead Clinician, Academic Director and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Palliative Medicine, at Bristol Homeopathic Hospital for many years. Dr Thompson now leads the team at the Portland Centre for Integrative Medicine in Bristol. Her research interests have been around whether homeopathy can offer a novel approach to symptom control in the cancer patient and in particular managing side effects of cancer treatments. Dr Thompson also has an interest in trial design.
Dr Petter Viksveen BA MSc PhD
Dr Viksveen has been a practising homeopath since he graduated from the Norwegian Academy for Natural Medicine in Oslo in 1990. He was Chairman of the European Central Council of Homeopaths (ECCH) for 13 years and ECCH Research Working Group Coordinator. He is also one of the founders of, and a coordinator for, the European Network for Homeopathy Research (ENHR). Dr Viksveen held the post of Research Advisor for the National Information Centre for Alternative Medicine, Norway from 2009 to 2011. He holds a Master Degree in Homeopathy from the University of Central Lancashire and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Sheffield.
Mr Charles Wansbrough BDS RSHom
Charles originally studied Dentistry and qualified in 1977. He worked for five years in the NHS, before developing some neurological problems which got him interested in the field of Alternative medicine becoming qualified at the College of Homeopathy in 1988. After many years of practise he became interested in the research dimensions of homeopathy and has continued to support and explore the interface between technology and homeopathy.
