PHE is an executive agency of the Department of Health, which aims to protect and improve the nation’s health and wellbeing, and reduce health inequalities. At a Parliamentary meeting earlier this year, Duncan Selbie (Chief Executive) presented some of PHE’s specific targets, such as encouraging self-care and promoting healthier lifestyles, which are key elements of routine homeopathic care. Following discussion around the evidence base with HRI at the end of the session, Mr Selbie offered the chance to meet with PHE to continue the discussion further.

On 28 July Rachel Roberts (HRI Chief Executive) and Dr Sara Eames (representing the Faculty of Homeopathy) met with Professor Fenton (Director of Health and Wellbeing for PHE) and Dr Heema Shukla (Consultant in Public Health). We took this valuable opportunity to present some of the high quality observational studies demonstrating real-world effectiveness of homeopathy. It was also refreshing to discover that PHE’s work in this area has much in common with the homeopathic approach.
