{"id":9026,"date":"2017-09-25T17:23:31","date_gmt":"2017-09-25T17:23:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hri-research.org\/?p=9026\/"},"modified":"2022-03-08T16:54:47","modified_gmt":"2022-03-08T16:54:47","slug":"easac-statement-on-homeopathy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hri-research.org\/ru\/2017\/09\/easac-statement-on-homeopathy\/","title":{"rendered":"EASAC Statement on Homeopathy"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 3\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The European Academies&#8217; Scientific Advisory Council (EASAC) recently published a statement on <em>Homeopathic products and practices<\/em>, the analysis and conclusions of which were based on supposedly &#8216;excellent science-based assessments already published by authoritative and impartial bodies.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The statement is intended to\u00a0provide a scientific basis for policy making for homeopathic medicinal products in the EU. As such, it is disappointing that EASAC cites the discredited <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hri-research.org\/resources\/homeopathy-the-debate\/uk-select-committee-report\/\">House of Commons Science and Technology Committee report<\/a> (2010) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hri-research.org\/resources\/homeopathy-the-debate\/the-australian-report-on-homeopathy\/\">Australian NHMRC Report on homeopathy<\/a> (2015). Any statement which is to be used to inform policy-making should be based on accurate, up-to-date information. In citing the sources above, and apparently not performing any\u00a0first-hand analysis on the wealth of evidence that supports homeopathy, EASAC&#8217;s statement can not reasonably be used to inform decisions which would ultimately influence the healthcare of EU citizens.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hri-research.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/2017-09-28_BPI-Position_on_EASAC_Publication.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">official response by BPI<\/a> &#8212; German national pharmaceutical industry trade association &#8212; provides a clear analysis of the EASAC statement which they describe as being prepared by &#171;a working group of 11 scientists acting in an individual capacity&#187;, reminding us that &#171;EASAC is neither an institution of the European Union (\u201cEU\u201d) nor a body tasked by the EU or by any EU Member State&#187;.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>For more on the evidence base for homeopathy, follow this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hri-research.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Understanding-the-Homeopathy-Debate-26-Sept-2017.pdf\">link.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The European Academies&#8217; Scientific Advisory Council (EASAC) recently published a statement on Homeopathic products and practices, the analysis and conclusions of which were based on supposedly &#8216;excellent science-based assessments already published by authoritative and impartial bodies.&#8217; The statement is intended to\u00a0provide a scientific basis for policy making for homeopathic medicinal products in the EU.
